SPOKANE HUMAN SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD

The Human Services Advisory Board is appointed by the Office of the Mayor to provide a liaison between the City Council, the Human Service providers, and the recipients of human services in an effort to determine the human service needs of the City of Spokane, and to recommend the appropriate financial resources to meet the service needs as prioritized by the Human Services Advisory Board and approved by the City Council.

To carry out the mission of the Human Services Advisory Board, the Board shall:

Coordinate its activities with Human Service providers and city staff to identify human service needs and trends within the community.

Report to the City Council its findings and recommendation for action.

Determine the level of financial resources necessary to meet the human service needs of the city as prioritized by the Human Services Advisory Board and approved by the City Council.

Assist the City Council and the Human Service providers by establishing criteria essential to the application for city funding of human service programs.

Provide a forum for public and private human service providers ensuring the dissemination of information critical to broad-based support for the human service needs of the community.
